Shift Systems are used to define recurring shift schedules. Shift System administration allows users to configure shift systems, define recurrence rules, configure holiday behavior, and specify where shift systems are available within the organizational structure.

Use Case

Shift Templates field controls which shift templates can be assigned to the same recurring shift pattern.

Flexible shift duration

Useful when planners can choose between different shift lengths without maintaining separate recurring schedules.

Alternative daily shifts

Useful when the same recurring schedule can be covered by different shift templates depending on operational demand.

Include and Exclude Holiday Recurrence fields control whether recurring shift patterns are generated on different holiday categories.

Shift System for Date Exceptions

Use Case

Exceptions and Inclusions Recurrence fields control individual dates removed from or added to a recurring shift pattern.

Planned site closure

Useful when recurring shifts should not be generated on dates when an operational site is temporarily closed, such as for annual inventory, maintenance, or refurbishment.

Additional operating day

Useful when shifts should also be generated outside the regular recurring schedule to support exceptional business demand.
